    Get to know Spaces at your own pace

    As you start using Spaces, choose to switch back to Classic temporarily, until you get the hang of your Service Desk’s brand new UI.

    Requirements

    • SysAid Spaces license

    • Admins with Spaces enabled

    Admins have the flexibility to become acquainted with Spaces at their own pace. This is made possible by three navigation options:

    • Admins can independently alternate between the Spaces and Classic Service Desk environments

    • Open a Spaces Service Record with a ‘Classic Ticket’ overlay

    • Open the Spaces Queue with a ‘Classic Queue’ overlay

    These options ensure that Admins can continuously enjoy the Spaces experience – yet without losing access to legacy features that Spaces doesn’t yet support.

    This document guides SysAid users through the processes of beginning to use the new Spaces platform, including the ability to:

    Switch to Spaces from Classic

    Admins can switch their Service Desk from Classic to Spaces from any screen, using the Admin Portal’s Me Menu.

    To switch to Spaces, click on “Me Menu” in the Header menu and select “Switch to Spaces” from the dropdown list.

    You’ll then see your default Queue landing page inside Spaces, and can use all features available in the Classic Service Desk.

    Switch from Spaces to Classic

    To temporarily switch your entire Service Desk from Spaces to Classic, follow these steps:

    1. Click the My Settings in the Sidebar

    2. Click Switch to Classic

    3. Click Save

    Open a Spaces Service Record in Hybrid View

    Admins working on a Service Record in Spaces can open a Classic View overlay over it – directly inside the Spaces environment.

    In addition to working with the Service Record in the more familiar Classic UI, the Service Record features that aren’t yet supported in Spaces are available when using the Classic View overlay.

    These features include:

    • Service Record Weight

    • Related Items

    • Parent & Child Service Records

    • Service Record Archiving

    • Service Record Duplication

    To open a Service Record in Classic:

    1. Click the three dots button in the Service Record Header

    2. Click “Open in Classic” from the dropdown menu

    Open the Hybrid Queue

    In addition to working with the Queue in the more familiar Classic UI, the Queue features that aren’t yet supported in Spaces are available when using the Classic View overlay.

    These features include:

    • Export Service Records

    • Convert Service Record Type (Incidents to Requests)

    • Merge Service Records

    • Duplicate Service Records

    • Create Customized Printouts

    To open the Classic Queue from Spaces:

    • Click the ‘three dots’ in the Service Record Header

    • Select Launch Classic Queue

    Return to Spaces Queue

    Once you’re finished using the Hybrid Queue, click Close to resume to the Spaces Queue.
