Asset Management helps you understand what IT assets you own, where they are, and how they’re being used.
Managing your assets in SysAid, right alongside your service records, is a major advantage. It lets you tie devices to support tickets, automate actions based on asset health, and streamline your overall IT operations in one place.
Whether you're supporting hundreds of endpoints or just getting started, having a complete, up-to-date list of your assets is the first step toward smarter IT management.
How it works
There are three main ways to add assets to SysAid:
Network discovery: Scan your network without needing to install anything. Perform a network scan with no installations needed.
SysAid Agent deployment: Deploy a lightweight agent for full visibility and control.
CSV import: Import assets from a spreadsheet or another system.
Tip:
Additional network discovery methods, if they are included in your plan:
Microsoft Intune (Agent not supported)
Once added, assets can be tracked and managed in Sysaid and related to all entities in the system, such as within service records, CMDB entries, monitoring dashboards, and remote support tools.
Choosing the best solution for you
Each method has its own benefits. You can use the method that suits your needs best or use several methods simultaneously:
Use case | Recommended method |
---|---|
You want a quick scan of Windows PCs | |
You need to scan printers, routers, or switches | |
You want full visibility and control | |
You already have a spreadsheet of assets | |
You're scanning behind a firewall or managing remote sites |
Adding assets to SysAid
Choose the method that best suits your needs:
Network Discovery
Let SysAid scan your network using:
WMI: For discovering Windows-based machines.
SNMP: For network hardware like printers, switches, or routers.
RDS (Remote Discovery Service) – Use this if scanning behind firewalls or across remote sites.
You can schedule scans so your asset list stays fresh automatically.

📄 Remote Discovery Service - use this to scan behind firewalls
SysAid Agent (Recommended)
Install the SysAid Agent on each asset to unlock advanced capabilities:
View deep asset details
Take remote control of a user’s machine
Chat, take screenshots, or get system health info
Let users press F11 to open tickets with screenshots
Ideal for organizations that need more than just a list. This gives you real-time, actionable control over your IT assets.

Import a CSV file
This is the fastest way to migrate from another asset management solution or internal system if you already have a list of your assets.

Next steps
Once your assets are added, you're ready to make the most of SysAid’s capabilities:
