    Article summary

This page shows you a list of the different CI relation types in your CMDB. The first six relation types are included with SysAid by default.

CI relationships work in two directions: what the CI affects, and what's affected by the CI. When you connect two CIs using a particular relationship type, one CI becomes the affecting CI and the other becomes the affected CI.

Example: Microsoft Word is installed on one of your workstations. The relationship type between the MS Word CI and the workstation CI is Installed on/Contains SW. Therefore, if you open the CI for MS Word, you will see that it's installed on the workstation. If you open the CI for that workstation, you will see that it contains the software MS Word.
