Integrating the AI Agent Builder with MS Teams transforms how teams communicate and collaborate.
Whether it’s handling employee requests, managing customer inquiries, or surfacing critical insights, an MS Teams-integrated AI agent enhances productivity and responsiveness.
In this article, we’ll walk you through the process of connecting the AI Agent Builder with your MS Teams account.
Connecting MS Teams with the Builder
The connection process consists of these main steps:
Creating a bot app for MS Teams.
Editing the bot app in Azure.
Adding the bot app to the MS Teams account.
Adding the app details in SysAid.
Testing the Connection.
Follow these steps to set up and connect your SysAid AI Agent Builder with the Microsoft Teams API Connection.
Step 1: Creating a bot app for MS Teams
Go to the MS Teams Developer Portal.
Navigate to Tools > Bot Management.
Click +New bot.
Give your bot a name. For example, “SysAid Bot”.
Click Create bot.
Go to Client secret and click + Create your first client secret.
Click Create client secret.
Copy the secret and save it. You will need this later on.
Click Done.
Click Import app.
Download this zip file and upload it to the portal.
Give your app a name. For example, “SysAid App”
Click Create.
Under Configure, go to Basic information.
Fill in the required fields: descriptions, developer information, and app URLs.
Click Save.
Go to App features and select Bot.
Select an existing bot and choose the SyaAid bot you created from the drop-down menu.
Under Select the scopes where people can use your bot, select Personal, Team, and group chat.
Click Save.
Go to Domains and add your Microsoft Entra ID domain.
Tip!
You can find your Microsoft Entra ID domain by going to Azure > Microsoft Entra ID > Overview and copy the Primary domain value
Click Confirm.
Click Save.
Click on Distribute in the top right corner and select Download app package. You’ll need the downloaded file later on.
Step 2: Editing the bot app in Azure
Go to Azure > Microsoft Entra ID > App registration.
Find the SysAid bot you created and select it.
Go to API permissions and click + Add permission.
Select Microsoft Graph.
Under Application permissions, select the following permissions:
User > User.Read.All
Chat > Chat.Create
Click Add Permission.
Select Grant admin consent to finalize permissions.
Step #3: Adding the bot app to the MS Teams account
Go to the Microsoft Teams admin center.
Navigate to Teams apps > Manage apps.
Click on Actions in the top right corner and select + Upload new app.
Upload the SysAd app package you downloaded earlier.
Tip!
If you want the app to be part of the user setup:
1. Go to Teams apps > Setup policies.
2. Select Global (org-wide default)
3. Under Installed apps, click + Add apps.
4. Search for the SysAid app and add it.
Step #4: Adding the app details in SysAid
In your SysAid account, go to Settings > SysAid AI Agents > AI Agents Builder.
Select the Microsoft Teams API Connection from the list to the left.
Open a new tab and go to the Azure Portal.
Navigate to Microsoft Entra ID and select the SysAid app you created.
Go to the Overview and copy the Application (client) ID.
Back in SysAid, paste this in the Microsoft Bot Framework Application (Client) ID field.
Paste the Secret Key you’ve saved earlier in the Microsoft Bot Framework Application Client Secret (Password) field.
Tip!
You can also find it in the Certificated & secrets section of the app in Azure.
In Azure, in the Overview section, go to Manage > Custom domain names.
Copy the name with an “Available” status and paste it into the Azure Active Directory tenant ID field in SysAid.
Open a new tab and go to the Microsoft Teams admin center.
Navigate to Teams apps > Manage apps.
Select the app you just created.
Go to the About tab and copy the App ID.
Back in SysAid, paste this in the Teams Store/Teams Catalog App ID field.
Step #5: Testing the Connection
Once all the details are in place:
Click on Test in the AI Agent Builder.
Wait for confirmation that the test was successful.
Click Publish.
You are now ready to leverage the SysAid AI Builder’s capabilities to automate workflows and enhance productivity.
